Dopamine addicts are the least tolerant neurotype in the world, so it doesn't take much. Contrary to economic just-so-storytelling - in which children and the child-like are misled to imagine a mysterious psychological coefficient to economic vitality, the fact of the matter is that economic vitality is a reflection of a society's net energy availability.
Unlike Korea, already so far into the energy black hole that 3 million of its people starved to death, Iran sits atop a surplus of energy that the U.S. dearly covets.
Quite obviously the U.S. doesn't want Iran to increase the net energy available to its own populace. Iran is thus caught between a predatory geopolitical rock and a hard place.
