The AME Church The AME Church stands ready to mobilize with partners who have disaster relief to be their primary mission and business. Our church buildings are now declared to be Shelters; our people are ready to serve; we pledge our resources to reach those who others cannot and choose not to find and help. As a bishop in our international church, and the chairperson of the AME Church’s Social Action Commission, I call on the governmental entities to join us and act in concert to aid the people of the devastated areas as you did when the tsunami hit Asia, and in the 9/11 event. We can demonstrate our leadership in the world to those who are watching on international television as they see how we respond to our own who are in crisis.

OPERATION SOS -- 'WE ARE OUR BROTHER'S KEEPER'

In an effort borne out of need to help our own, because the "government" has revealed its incompetence, several black media companies and black churches have banded together to create "Operation SOS: We Are Our Brothers's Keeper." The collective's mission is to jump in immediately and help save our brothers and sisters, the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

They need donations ... money, doctors, nurses, volunteers, antibiotics, toiletries, heart medication, diabetes medication.
