Makani Themba Nixon

The Praxis Project is the brainchild of Makani Themba Nixon. One of the central questions I've been trying to answer during my adult years--in my scholarship and in my work--is How do you give people the capacity to organize themselves? It is clear to me that the answer is not by calling millions of people together with nothing more in common than the desire to see black people "free." Rather it is by organizing at the local level and taking both the successes and failures and use those to engage in a larger discussion. And then creating activist primers, that give local communities not only the belief BUT THE TOOLS to fight their own battles.
