Tavis Smiley and the GOP Convention

Tavis Smiley did a great job covering the GOP convention.

He gave the Black Republicans an honest chance to have them present their views. He probably did more for Black Republicans than Black Republicans have done for themselves.

Now, how many Black Republicans have given Tavis his props?

Ain't it Tavis' job to report the news and provide his commentary? Given that his show focuses on black folks, if he's at the Republican National Convention then he's gonna interview black Republicans?

Who keeps saying that the "liberal media" doesn't give Black Republicans a fair shake?

Who keeps saying that the Black GOP voices aren't being heard?

How come it's never mentioned that Tavis always provides a fair view of issues? But Fox News is fair and balanced?

How come it's rarely mentioned from others that Tavis provides regular commentary from Black conservatives/Republicans?

And, the FACT is, as I stated, Tavis provided a better view of Black Republicans than many have provided for themselves.

Oh, and he also interviewed Black Republicans who got into office with good to heavy support of Blacks. Now, who keeps saying that doesn't happen?

I didn't hear Tavis Smiley's commentary on black Republicans at the RNC, so I can't state whether or not I believe that those specific segments were fair or not.

However, I disagree with your contention that Tavis is fair and balanced. While he gives some space to black conservatives, too often he'll have two liberals as the two experts on whatever issue he is discussing that day. And black moderate voices are virtually nonexistent on his shows.

Feeling a bit lazy on a Sunday afternoon. I'll echo Molotov:

Ain't it Tavis' job to report the news and provide his commentary?

We will have to agree to disagree. Because when I listen, I typically hear Tavis moderating opposing views unless it's one of his regular commentators.

Ain't it Tavis' job to report the news and provide his commentary?

Well, see my longer reply.

BTW, to the both of you. Keep up your work. I may fall more in line with molotov, but LB keeps my intellectual knives sharp.
