Condenscending

The following was said about Blacks who are "achieving":

I think that these are people who haven't let historical prejudices stop them.

Why isn't that a condenscending statement in and of itself?

I have to think more about this...

The basic implication is Blacks should accept class-wide, institutionalized discrimination on the basis of our complexions as 'normative' and proper.

also, this statement disqualifies those who were stopped by historical prejudice no matter how hard they tried. i have no problem believing that many blacks have tried to work within the system and still got shat upon on a regular basis. these people are 'achievers' as well...
