How Do

After long lurking, I'll post random musings from time to time.

Might be politics, might be "race," might be sports, might be excerpts from previous work.

We'll get down and have a little fun, and maybe we'll learn something before it's done.

So let's get ready, okay?

Hey, hey, hey.

It's good to be here, fellas, wonderful to be in the cybercompany of some committed thinkers.

Been using the meantime and betweentime to rest and recover-to get over feeling sorry for myself, and to build up my soon-to-be 14-month loveship with the lady.

I'm the project director of a lung cancer research grant, we're examining any possible environmental and/or occupational effects on lung cancer in the state of Kentucky.

Of Kentucky's 120 counties, 105 of them are in the top 155 highest cancer rates per 100,000 people in the nation. Smoking (Kentucky has the highest adult smoking rate in the country at 32.6%) explains 90-92% of all of the cases...but there's a mysterious 8-10% of cases that occur in people with no smoking-directly or second-hand from someone else-history.

Given that we have so many cases here, the "n" is still high enough to get some money to try to figure out why.

Onward and upward.

P.S. I love the font used on this website, it's so elegant.
